Bridgemans is pleased to announce that it has acquired MV Bluefort, a 460-foot (142-metre) former Mediterranean Sea ferry that is being converted to a premium hotel vessel and industrial work platform. The ship is ideally suited for resource companies looking to rapidly deploy full-service accommodations and a command centre for early works projects in remote regions and offshore locations throughout the world.
The eight-deck ship will arrive at Bridgemans refit and conversion facility later this month, where it will undergo a complete refit to all cabin interiors and to enhance functionality and reliability of state-of-the-art telecommunications equipment.
Once completed, the ship will feature 264 single-occupancy cabins with ensuite washrooms, 35 deluxe crew cabins, a well-appointed dining room, theatre and social areas. The vessel will also feature project operations amenities, including a 200-person briefing theatre, 10,000 square feet of office and meeting space, a 50-ton crane, a converted car deck for equipment storage and a 12,000-pound helicopter landing deck.
“This vessel will enable us to fulfill the needs of companies who need to quickly and expeditiously establish a command centre and accommodations facilities for early works projects,” said Brian Grange, President of Bridgemans. “Requiring no land-based supports, it can continue to provide accommodations and serve as a fully functional base of operations for the entire duration of a multi-year project.”
Once the refit is complete, the ship will be re-commissioned as Bridgemans Bluefort. Final conversion and refit work is scheduled to be completed by August of 2015.
