Mozambique LNG Offshore Accommodation
Challenge
Dutch dredging specialist Van Oord was awarded a contract for EPCI work on the subsea systems for the Area 1 Mozambique LNG project. Van Oord was responsible to execute the shallow offshore installation scope of the EPCI deal.
The Anadarko-led Area 1 Mozambique LNG project is Mozambique’s first onshore LNG development, initially consisting of two LNG trains with a total nameplate capacity of 12.88 Mtpa to support the development of the Golfinho/Atum fields located entirely within Offshore Area 1.
The requirement for workforce accommodations during rapid fluctuations in the project manning curve, made a Bridgemans floatel the ideal offshore accommodation solution for the project.
Solution
Bridgemans’ floatel, MV Bluefort, was positioned offshore Mozambique, providing accommodations and hotel services for Van Oord’s team, while they executed the shallow offshore installation scope of the LNG project.
Brian Grange, President of Bridgemans Services Group, offers his remarks: “We decided to move the vessel to the east coast of Africa as we saw an immediate requirement for a safe, reliable offshore accommodations in the region. We are extremely proud to provide our services to Van Oord’s team during this phase of the project.”
